Job Title: Director of Alumni Engagement

JOB DESCRIPTION


The Director of Alumni Engagement plans and administers comprehensive local, national and international programs to involve the more than 15,000 alumni in the life of the College while creating a climate that fosters engagement and financial support for the institution.


RESPONSIBILITIES


• Work with the Advancement team to inspire a culture of alumni tradition and philanthropy among graduates worldwide and also among current students.
• Coordinate the development of an Alumni Leadership Council, a yearlong program that provides committed alumni with demonstrated affinity and connections an opportunity to learn more about deepening their engagement with the College.
• Identify, cultivate and help recruit alumni volunteers to significantly increase alumni engagement by: 1) developing chapters by geographic area, affinity groups, etc.; 2) establishing committees for regional and campus events; and 3) developing and executing an annual schedule of local, regional and national alumni activities that strengthen the relationship between the alumni and the College.
• Represent and communicate the College's mission, objectives, accomplishments and needs, emphasizing alumni support of four key areas: alumni engagement, admission, philanthropy, and student engagement.
• Prepare the President, Vice President and staff members for all advancement events and other interactions with key alumni, parents and friends, which may include the preparation of briefings, reports, strategy documents, etc.
• Work with Admission, Career Planning, and other campus departments on programming to recruit and engage alumni volunteers. Coordinate with Student Affairs to increase student awareness of alumni activities and prepare students for their role as alumni.
• Further develop an emerging alumni travel program.
• Plan and execute annual Reunion Weekend programs.
• Collaborating with Marketing and Communications, develop and manage an integrated marketing strategy for communicating with all alumni.
• Develop and manage the annual budget for Alumni Engagement.
• Coordinate the nomination and selection of alumni to be honored with alumni awards.
• Oversee the Alumni Engagement Coordinator.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Vice President for Advancement.


QUALIFICATIONS


• A bachelor's degree is required.
• Raiser's Edge experience is preferred.
• Must be willing to travel and work nights and weekends.
• Previous experience in alumni relations is important , with additional experience in development, marketing and sales preferred.
• Previous experience in special event planning and volunteer management is required.
• Must possess and demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills and be a self-starter.
• Must be a team player who understands and accepts the necessity of working toward a common goal with maturity, poise, initiative and flexibility.
• Ability to handle complex situations and confidential information with professionalism is required.
• Must be proficient in Web technologies such as Facebook, LinkedIn and other Web interfaces that provide opportunities to connect with alumni.
