Position Title:            Athletic Trainer

           
Immediate Supervisor/Title:           Director of Sports Medicine

 

FLSA Status: Exempt, 10 month (August 1 - May 31)

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Provide athletic training services for the College athletic department including attendance at scheduled team practices and competitions as necessary.
  • Exercise discretion and full judgement in relation to treatment of injured student athletes.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of all student - athletes for physical examinations, medical referrals, treatment of injuries, and full rehabilitation programs.
  • Oversee supervision of athletic training students or student work study.
  • Recruit and maintain local physicians to serve as team physicians and medical consultants, and to assist with pre-participation physical examination, and act as a liaison to all medical consultants, specialists, and medical service providers.
  • Consult with the Team Physician(s) for guidance on the treatment of injured student-athletes, and report on their progress.
  • Assist the athletic coaching staff in efforts of injury prevention.
  • Maintain the athletic training rooms and equipment in good working condition and meticulous sanitation.
  • Maintain supplies for the treatment of injuries, first aid, and rehabilitation.
  • Assist with the compilation, input, organization, and maintenance of all medical records on College student-athletes, and share in the responsibility of maintaining and organizing the athletic training room file system.
  • Secure and maintain all student-athlete medical records, as well as insurance policy information.
  • Works in conjunction with all athletics department personnel in serving the mission of the college to provide excellent, innovative undergraduate liberal arts education and lifelong learning programs in the unique Florida environment

 

Athletic Trainer  Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred. Must be from CAATE accredited program
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a certified athletic trainer
  • Active membership in the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA)
  • First Aid and CPR certification required
  • State of Florida athletic training licensure or eligible for such, required
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, including nights and weekends
