Assistant Professor of Communication
Assistant Professor of Communication, tenure-track position, to start in September 2019. Ph.D. in Communication required. Eckerd College seeks an outstanding teacher/scholar with expertise in critical media studies. The successful candidate will be able to teach Media & Society, Media Ethics, Public Speaking, Introduction to Communication Theory, a senior-level research course, and develop courses in area(s) of expertise. Teaching load is seven courses per academic year (3-1-3). Candidates must be committed to teaching and mentoring undergraduates, and have an active research agenda. The ability to teach courses in another area, such as communication and difference (with a focus on race, culture, class, gender, sexuality, ability, or other basis of difference), or digital media production is welcome. Participation in an interdisciplinary, values-oriented general education program is required, including a regular rotation in the two-semester, first-year program.
