Position Description
Academic Service-Learning Coordinator

Report to: Director of Service-Learning

Position Summary:
The Academic Service-Learning Coordinator reports to the Director of Service-Learning and works in conjunction with faculty and staff members to support, promote, and implement reflective service-learning opportunities such as service-learning courses, co-curricular projects, faculty workshops, and the General Education service-learning requirement.

Essential Functions:
• Assist faculty in development of reflective service-learning courses and establishment of community partnerships.
• Assist the Director of Service-Learning in identifying appropriate service sites for faculty and their students.
• Under the guidance of the Director of Service-Learning, evaluate co-curricular proposals and reflections.
• Assist in the evaluation of sites and in the development of a system of evaluation that tracks the quality of students' experiences at each site.
• Act as coordinator of the Service-Learning office; maintaining and enhancing the Service-Learning website, and assisting in the development of Service-Learning manuals for faculty and students.
• Assist with implementation of new Reflective Service-Learning General Education Program.
o Develop informational material and resources.
o Develop spring break service programs (ex. Reflection training for leaders, review of co-curricular projects).
o Assist students in fulfilling the service-learning requirement (identification of agencies, knowledge of requirements, selecting goals, etc.).
o Assist with advising students on potential service sites and opportunities.
o Create faculty development sessions or resources.
o Develop yearly report on implementation of the General Education RSL requirement for usage in the Office of Service-Learning annual report.
• Assist in the planning and implementation of service-learning programming (service days, trips, spring break, dine & discuss, etc.).
• Act as a notary for Office of Service-Learning spring break service projects.

Minimum Qualifications:
• 1-3 years of experience working in an education, higher education and/or non-profit environment, preferred.
• Experience with service-learning projects and planning.
• Knowledge of, and experience working with, community organizations.
• Basic familiarity with the literature and practice of service-learning as a curricular and co-curricular pedagogy.
• An understanding and familiarity with current service-learning programming and service-learning courses at Eckerd College.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with diverse populations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience traveling and working in both domestic and international locations, preferred.
• Bachelor's degree required.
