Position Title: Junior Systems Administrator
Department: Information Technology Services
Immediate Supervisor: Senior Systems Administrator
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Summary

Responsible for setting up and maintaining servers in accordance with all College IT policies, plans, and guidelines. This position will need working knowledge of Windows server operating systems. This position will also learn to support Linux servers. Servers will be hosted in a virtual environment (VMWare) connected to a storage area network as well as in Amazon Web Services.

Essential Functions (other non-essential duties may be assigned)
1. Active Directory domain administration tasks including; user account maintenance, OU organization, computer object management and group policy management.
2. Windows Server Management; File, Print, DHCP, DNS
3. Image deployment
4. Windows server and client patching
5. Database installation and backup (MSSQL, Mariadb)
6. Manage VMware resources and servers
7. Assist the Sr. Systems Administrator in maintaining Linux servers and AWS environments
8. Google Apps management and SAML configuration.
9. Assists Senior Systems administrator in evaluating and designing new systems.
10. Serves as primary backup to Senior Systems Administrator
11. Responsible for ensuring regular backup of all college systems
12. Coordinates with the Senior Systems Administrator and the Network Analyst on issues pertaining to the campus-wide and colocation network infrastructure

Required Qualifications
● Knowledge of Windows server operating systems
● Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of users and support staff
● Ability to initiate, track, and manage successfully multiple detail-oriented projects simultaneously.
● Ability to manage projects independently and perform with minimal amount of supervision.
● Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with ITS personnel, students, and campus computer users (technical and non-technical)

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
● Occasional nights and weekend work required to perform maintenance tasks or troubleshoot system outages.
● Frequently required to operate computers and other technology equipment.
Education and Experience
● Associates degree in computer related field and a minimum of three years of experience in systems administration.
● Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Servers.
● Experience supporting Active Directory including account creation, group management, and Group Policy management.
● Experience with Configuration Manager for image deployment, auditing, patching
