Marine Geologist 

The Marine Science/Geosciences Program at Eckerd College invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level to start September 2022. A Ph.D. in Oceanography, Marine Science, Earth Science or related field with a focus on the geosciences is required. We seek a broadly-trained scientist-educator who is strongly committed to teaching and student/faculty research at the undergraduate level. The candidate will teach seven courses per academic year in a 3-1-3 format. Teaching responsibilities will include regular participation in our introductory-level courses in Geological Oceanography and Earth Systems History, and course(s) in the applicant's area of expertise, which could include Paleontology, Geobiology, or other. Preference will be given to applicants who can complement existing areas of expertise in Sedimentation/Stratigraphy, Coastal Geology, Earth Materials, Earth Structure and Geophysics, as well as help provide a bridge between our strong Marine Biology and Marine Geology programs.  Participation in an interdisciplinary, values-oriented general education program is required, including a regular rotation in the two-semester first-year program.  Eckerd College, the only independent national liberal arts college in Florida, has a tradition of innovative education and teaching/mentoring excellence.
