Film Studies. Assistant Professor of Film Studies with a specialty in the study and production of narrative film and media, tenure-track position, to start in August 2023. MFA or Ph.D. in relevant field required. Teach seven courses per academic year, including introductory courses in digital film and media production (Introduction to Filmmaking) and film analysis (Elements of Film), and a range of upper-level courses focused on narrative film production and analysis courses, such as short fiction, new media production, and related film and media. The Film Studies major at Eckerd College fully integrates moving image production with film analysis and is seeking a filmmaker-scholar who can help build upon this commitment with a strong record of peer-reviewed achievement in moving image-making and analysis with an expectation of future work in this area. Opportunities to take students abroad, as well as to contribute to Eckerd College's flagship community-oriented film initiatives, including the International Cinema series, the Visions/Voices of Nature Environmental Film Festival, and the Eckerd College Film and Video Festival.
Participation in an interdisciplinary, values-oriented general education program is required, including a regular rotation in the two-semester first-year program.
