Position Summary
Manages all aspects of alumni engagement communications, from ideation to implementation, in addition to other alumni engagement programs as assigned, in order to develop meaningful relationships between Eckerd College and its alumni.

Essential Functions (other non-essential duties may be assigned)

  1. Collaborate with the associate vice president for alumni engagement and annual giving and the director on creative ways to increase alumni engagement, especially through communications.
  2. Create and distribute digital and print communications to alumni including event invitations, an alumni newsletter, an events digest and more.
  3. Produce daily content for the Alumni Engagement Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Flickr pages along with opportunities for alumni to engage directly with Eckerd through these platforms.
  4. Oversee alumni engagement event communication flows including but not limited to invitations, registration forms, registrant management, and pre- and post-event messaging.
  5. Manage the alumni engagement web pages in cooperation with the Marketing and Communications office.
  6. Develop creative ways to encourage alumni to update their contact information in cooperation with the Director of Advancement Services.
  7. Ensure consistent and timely communication with alumni by monitoring email, social media accounts and direct mail.
  8. Prepare reports and maintain alumni information in Raiser's Edge database.
  9. Perform administrative and organizational tasks including event set-up, printing event name tags, updating the alumni engagement events calendar and managing the alumni business directory.

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and skills in social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Flickr.
  • Strong skills in written and verbal communication and ability to interact effectively with multiple constituencies
  • Ability to build and cultivate relationships with a strong sense of initiative and demonstrated creativity.
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records, files, and reports.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as knowledge and skills in database management.
  • Ability to handle complex situations and confidential information with professionalism.
  • Professional demeanor and excellent social skills with large groups as well as individuals.
  • Ability to manage multi-phase projects from inception to completion, including the ability to build consensus among team members and balance multiple concurrent priorities.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Frequently required to remain stationary and perform work on a computer or mobile device.
  • Frequently required to communicate with others in person or via email, video conferencing, chat applications, social media, and/or telephone.
  • Occasional after-hours work required (nights, weekends, holidays) to assist with alumni events.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree or three (3) years of related experience, preferably in higher education. The equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Experience with Raiser's Edge, WordPress, and email marketing is desired.

Employment will require a successful background check.
