Position Summary
Provides general support for teaching and research activities for Biology and Chemistry & Biochemistry departments.
Essential Functions (other non-essential duties may be assigned)
- Work with faculty and stockroom supervisor and independently.
- Assist in the preparation of solutions and glassware and apparatus set-up. Work with a full range of chemicals to prepare reagents and solutions for experiments.
- Assist in the set-up of teaching laboratories by transporting supplies, reagents, and equipment between the stockroom and lab spaces. Set-up instruments for daily laboratory use.
- Maintain all teaching laboratories to ensure that they are in an orderly and safe condition, including bench and fume hood spaces.
- Monitor inventory levels and assure security of supplies and equipment.
- Ensure laboratory safety and waste disposal protocols are correctly followed.

Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and faculty to facilitate coursework.
- Ability to manage class schedules effectively.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment specific to assigned discipline.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Knowledge of and skills in Microsoft Office and G-Suite software.
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Occasionally required to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
- Frequent periods of standing and moving around the classroom.
- Frequent use of hands and arms to reach, grasp, and use laboratory equipment.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in appropriate academic discipline or closely-related discipline.
Employment will require a successful background check.
