Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Director of Alumni Engagement to join our advancement team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. We are searching for a dynamic leader who creates opportunities for engagement with our growing network of alumni. The Director of Alumni Engagement will build and strengthen the alumni community by planning and implementing engagement opportunities that foster lifelong connections with Eckerd College.

The director will be skilled in developing meaningful relationships with constituents as well as in planning, managing, and growing events to further connect with our growing alumni network through purposeful and meaningful engagement activities. They will possess strong project management skills with detail orientation and possess a clear understanding of the role of a private liberal arts college. An understanding of and desire to utilize metrics and analytics to make data-informed decisions will be crucial to the success of the position.

The advancement team is led by award-winning and seasoned professionals who have built a collaborative environment to foster innovation and growth. Professional growth is encouraged through involvement with Higher Education industry organizations, such as CASE and the Forum of Florida Alumni Associations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the College's strategic approach to alumni engagement, cultivating meaningful relationships between Eckerd and its alumni through the development and management of volunteer opportunities, communications, events, and philanthropic relationships.
  • Identify, cultivate, and recruit alumni volunteers for key areas of the College.
  • Lead the Alumni Leadership Program to further deepen engagement and relationships with the College.
  • Manage all alumni communications and develop content for reports to the Board of Trustees and Advancement Committee.
  • Plan and execute the annual Reunion Weekend programs including events, committees, and alumni awards.
  • Direct alumni events in key geographic areas including coordinating with volunteers, managing budgets, and booking venues and catering.
  • Monitor and review alumni engagement metrics and use information to improve strategic approaches.
  • Oversee the planning and organization of 1-2 annual international alumni trips.
  • Complete 120 annual face-to-face visits with alumni 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2-3 years of related experience in alumni engagement, volunteer management, business development, fundraising, program development, or advancement.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication and ability to form meaningful relationships with a diverse audience
  • Ability to perform work outside normal business hours and travel as needed (5-10%) to meet with alumni and attend events
