Armacost library at Eckerd College, a private liberal arts institution on Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, is currently hiring for the position of Resource Sharing Coordinator.

Reporting to the Access Services Librarian, this position is responsible for managing the library's resource sharing services and providing circulation/information customer service for the college community. This staff member will fulfill all interlibrary loan (ILL) requests and returns to partnering institutions using the OCLC Tipasa system, the ExLibris library system, and a variety of document delivery services. The position requires the supervision and training of student assistants in resource sharing procedures, the library's circulation system, and customer service. This staff member works both independently and collaboratively. The Resource Sharing Coordinator is detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, task-oriented, with highly effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees daily interlibrary loan (ILL) activities, including processing of lending, borrowing, and document delivery.
  • Provides ILL usage statistics to library stakeholders.
  • Manages copyright compliance for ILL activities. 
  • Searches bibliographic databases to verify and locate materials.
  • Supervises, trains, and mentors library work scholars in the development of professional skills, to assist in daily ILL workflows.
  • Provides supervision to the circulation desk and work scholars as needed.
  • Manages payments for damaged or lost items via ILL.
  • Works with vendors to troubleshoot technology problems and stays current system updates. 
  • Creates and maintains relevant process and procedure documentation on a consistent basis.
  • Identifies and evaluates emerging trends, best practices, and standards in resource sharing.
  • Performs other related tasks requested by the Access Services Librarian, the librarian on duty, or the Director of Library Services.

Access Services/Other Responsibilities

  • Work with the Collections Team on displays/projects.
  • Assist librarians with the weeding and relocation of library collections.
  • Able to field initial information inquiries from library users and refer queries to librarians.

Required Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities, and certifications needed upon entry into the position)

  • Two years of customer service experience, preferably in library services.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, be flexible and adapt to a fast-paced work environment. 
  • Possess sound decision making, planning, analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Alma/Primo ILS and Google Suite.


  • Hours M-F, hybrid work schedule available after initial probationary period.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions 

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and/or transport items up to 35 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and talking on a phone.

Education and Experience (minimum combined education and experience needed for position)

  • Previous customer service experience, preferably in an academic library setting.
  • Experience with resource sharing systems (Tipasa or similar).
  • Experience with ExLibris' Alma Integrated Library System or similar.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Bachelor degree or commensurate library experience strongly preferred.
