Eckerd College is currently seeking candidates for the position of Senior Tax and Financial Analyst. This opportunity entails joining our Accounting and Finance team, situated at our waterfront property along the picturesque Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing tax policies for the College, ensuring compliance with all federal and state tax laws and regulations, advising staff on tax matters and filing of certain tax returns and related information. 

At times, the Senior Financial and Tax Analyst will be responsible for providing guidance and/or supervision to Accounting, Payroll, and Accounts Payable staff as designated or requested by the Controller. The Senior Financial and Tax Analyst demonstrates an advanced ability to research applicable federal tax code, state statutes, and industry specific guidance. The Senior Financial and Tax Analyst should have excellent writing, organizational, analytical and communications skills.  The Senior Financial and Tax Analyst will work as a team member within a collaborative environment, interacting professionally and effectively with multiple constituencies.

 Key Responsibilities

• Recommend improvements and/or develop tax guidelines and operating procedures in the areas of payroll tax, vendor tax, unrelated business income tax, sale of donated vehicles, real estate taxes, tangible personal property and unclaimed property.
• Prepares and/or directs the tax compliance process of Forms 990, 990-T, F-1120, 5500, W-2's, Sales and Tourist Taxes, 1099Misc, 1099-R, 1098-T and 1098-C's.
• Assist in coordinating external audits related to tax compliance processes.
• Lead in the resolution of tax issues affecting departments and the College as a whole, including IRS, Florida Department of Revenue inquiries/notices.
• Education to Business Office staff and college community on tax matters affecting college functions.
• Design, implement and monitor procedures for tax compliance of foreign activity, including foreign visitors on campus and faculty/staff working abroad.
• Obtains and maintains sales tax exempt certificates in Florida and other states.
• Responsible for the College's annual charitable solicitation registrations.
• Assists as needed with all aspects of financial, payroll and human resources as they may affect tax reporting, tax return preparation, benefit plans and other compliance matters.
• Regularly participates in the development and implementation of plans, goals, and objectives for the Business Office.

 Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance or related field. Master's Degree is a plus, CPA preferred.
• Minimum of five years of professional experience; Higher education experience preferred.
