Eckerd College is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Director of Admission for Diverse and Inclusive Recruitment to join the Enrollment Management team at our waterfront property along the Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, in our relationship-focused community. As an Admission Counselor, you are part of a team that develops relationships with prospective students and their families in the assigned territory and provides information about the application and enrollment process at Eckerd College. Depending on your background and skills, you may start as an Associate Director.
As Assistant Director, you will develop relationships with prospective students, families and key admission stakeholders with an eye toward enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion on campus. You will coordinate and manage a recruitment territory, lead the efforts related to the recruitment and awarding of our Diversity Leadership Scholarship and coordinate outreach efforts for underrepresented populations. Partnering with the Assistant Director of Inclusive Excellence, you will work to create and build a recruitment plan that supports Eckerd's strategic pillar of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
Our admission team demonstrates the ability to build relationships with people from diverse backgrounds including faculty, staff, students, prospective students, and families. In doing so, our counselors possess exceptional skills in multiple forms of communication, particularly with regard to public speaking and presenting to both internal and external audiences. The ability to organize and manage your time and schedule effectively is crucial to success in the position. Regular travel to assigned territory is required (7-9 weeks in the fall, 3-5 weeks in the spring) as well as after-hours work to attend admission events on campus.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strategic and deep understanding of a recruitment territory as it relates to meeting application, admission and enrollment goals established by the Dean and Vice President.
- Interview and recruit prospective students and their parents for an assigned territory. Review, evaluate and provide recommendations on admission files and applications, in excess of 70 per week during high volume periods.
- Utilize effective communication and relationship-building with prospective students, parents, and college counselors by letter, phone, e-mail and virtual conferencing.
- Explain and discuss financial aid processes and financial aid packages for new students.
- Represent the College and articulate the value of a liberal arts degree to various external constituencies such as prospective students and their parents, secondary school college counselors and teachers, community-based organizations, influencers of prospective students, and others.
- Collaborate with other campus partners in the planning and execution of on-campus and virtual admission events designed to introduce a diverse population of prospective students and other constituents involved in the college search process (i.e. school counselors and community-based partners) to Eckerd College.
- Plan and execute the Diversity Leadership scholarship application and lead the recruitment, selection and yield of Diversity Leadership scholars.
- Coordinate outreach to Pinellas County schools and to community-based organizations in order to explore and develop partnerships to expand the reach of Eckerd College and to create pathways for college enrollment of underrepresented students.
- Coordinate and execute college readiness programming for the local community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution and 5 years of relevant experience in higher education admission or recruitment.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is not required but is helpful to success in the position.
- Ability to travel 10-14 weeks during the year.
