SUMMARY: The Director is responsible for the management of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI or the Institute) at Eckerd College. The Institute is a nonprofit organization that exists to offer its members intellectual and cultural experiences in a stimulating environment for older adults. The Institute provides non-credit, non-degree-granting programs, as well as special cultural and social events, and encourages active participation by members in a voluntary capacity. The Director serves as OLLI representative; and supports other Eckerd College continuing education and lifelong learning programs.
REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Continuing Education
- 1. MANAGES OPERATIONS
a) Manages day-to-day activities.
b) Manages staff, facilities, office space and other areas related to the operation of the program.
c) Works with the OLLI Advisory Council to identify and create best practices in running a world-class, 21st century lifelong learning programs.
- 2. IMPLEMENTS THE PROGRAM
a) Facilitates program development.
b) With Creative Director and support of OLLI Advisory Council, recruits, trains and manages instructors.
c) Oversees and lends support to marketing efforts (brochure, course materials, web presence, and other materials as needed).
d) Oversees and manages the Travel Study Program in coordination with the Creative Director.
e) Leads and guides Advisory Council, Program Committees and program planning groups.
- 3. MANAGES FINANCIAL OPERATIONS
a) In coordination with the Dean and Associate Dean of CE, develops annual budget.
b) Manages routine expenditures and is responsible for maintaining proper fiscal reporting and safeguards of personal and financial information.
c) Develops and leads, in coordination with OLLI Advisory Council, all fundraising.
d) Builds philanthropic connection between OLLI membership and the College.
- 4. PROMOTES MEMBERSHIP
a) Supports and facilitates recruitment of new members.
b) Assesses member needs and wants.
c) Ensures member satisfaction and retention.
- 5. PROMOTES COMMUNITY RELATIONS
a) Facilitates relationships and communications with community and Eckerd College.
b) Serves as OLLI's representative with the Bernard Osher Foundation, other foundations and institutes, local governments, civic groups, and think tanks.
- 6. GENERAL SUPPORT
a) Coordinates and provides support to other Eckerd College lifelong learning and Continuing Education programs as needed.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred
